Waltham Abbey Essex Wedding – Annique & Lee

Waltham Abbey wedding photography by London wedding photographer Darren Lehane

The Street Photography Wedding Photographer

As a street photography wedding photographer, Annique and Lee’s wedding day in Waltham Abbey, Essex, was a fantastic day for unobtrusively capturing some great candid and natural moments. My street photography approach to weddings really does allow me to document the emotions, the humour and the real stories that happen when a couple can simply concentrate on their day – and this really was the case with this Waltham Abbey wedding in Essex.

The Expressive Bride

It would be fair to say that Annique was a really expressive bride, so it was important to me that I could capture the range of emotions she went through during her big and unforgettable day.  From the laughter at the bridal preparations right through to her emotional tears in her last dance with her father, it really was a day full of naturally evolving moments.

A Different Kind of Wedding Photography

When I am shooting street photography for myself I am always looking for moments that transcend expectations or images that may ask more questions than they answer. I love touches of humour, unusual juxtapositions and bits of surrealism and when I apply this to a wedding day the couple really do get a unique wedding story that avoids all cliches and tired stereotypes that are usually associated with wedding photography.  I really aim to deliver the kind of wedding photography you don’t expect: different, original and always creative.

Waltham Abbey is also a fantastic wedding venue, so with such a fabulous background – of a traditional old church – I was able to set the natural and candid moments against a beautiful backdrop.

It’s A Wedding Day Not a Photo Shoot

The fact Annique and Lee were able to spend so much time with their family and friends, without having to worry about their wedding day being turned into a formal photo shoot, I was able to capture some genuinely great candid moments. These kind of moments you can never stage or pose, and that’s what gave Annique and Lee wedding photography that re-told their day as it happened.  As a street photography wedding photographer that’s the very thing I want to deliver at every wedding I shoot.

My Favourite Moments From The Day

Here are a very small selection of my favourite candid and natural moments from Anniuqe and Lee’s wedding day.  I hope you enjoy them too and if you do I’d be really grateful if you could share this post across your social media.
