Brighton Old Ship Hotel Wedding Photography – Gemma & Rich

Another Brighton Wedding

I again found myself in Brighton for another wedding – this time for Gemma and Rich’s at the delightful Old Ship Hotel on the seafront. Even though it was bitterly cold with a biting wind, the sun was shining and it promised to be a beautiful wedding day for all concerned.

As everyone most probably knows by now – one of my favourite parts of the day is aways the bridal preparations. For a wedding photojournalist this part of the wedding day always offer so many moments and so many emotions, which always means so many opportunities to get some great wedding reportage photography for the real wedding story.

So I was delighted that the bridal suite really was a grand old room that provided an atmospheric backdrop to the beautiful bride and her immediate family.  As far as bridal preparations go, it was relaxed, calm and fun – allowing me to capture wedding photography I was genuinely proud of.

The wedding service saw tears from Gemma – overcome with the emotion of the day but Rich, her soon to be husband, was of course on hand to wipe tears from her face.

The speeches and wedding breakfast took place down in the Old Ship Hotel’s historic wine cellar – about as moody and atmospheric as any location I’ve ever shot.  It’s certainly not a venue I will ever forget.

The evening reception again was a fun affair – made funny by guests running around with various celebrity masks – include HRH The Queen.  As I expected, with Gemma and Rich being such a great young couple, their friends were exactly the same and it made for a wedding day no one, including me as the wedding photographer, will ever forget.

Part of my Wedding Stories series.

Documenting The Real Story Of Your Wedding. Never Dictating it.

My Wedding Stories show you a chronological selection of photos from throughout a REAL wedding day, rather than just images specially selected for a portfolio (us photographers love to do that.)  After all, your wedding photography should be about your entire day rather than the very best images from the day.  I hope this not only gives you a feel of a whole wedding day but also demonstrates how my wedding photojournalism captures the natural moments, candid emotions and real events of the day – without the need to set up or stage fake moments.

If you are getting married and enjoy my documentary wedding photography approach, then I’d really love to chat to you about your plansDrop me a line here.
